C. Keith Hodge, 81 of Rockton passed away December 16, 2013. Born December 15, 1932 in Rockford, he was the son of Wylie I. and Gladys E. (Hooper) Hodge. He married Gail M. Baker April 3, 1971 in Rockford.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Keith served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1950 – 1953. He was employed with the Rockford Police Department from 1956 – 1986 and the Winnebago Sheriff’s Department from 1990 – 2005 where he retired after 45 combined years of service.
A proud grandpa, Keith was a man who knew everyone by their first, middle, and last names; he was a cop first, last, and always.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gail Hodge; daughter, Katherine M. Hodge; grandson, Hayden Sularz; brother, William (Sharon) Hodge; and many nieces and nephews.
Keith was predeceased by his parents, Wylie Hodge and Gladys Radean.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Kim and the staff of Transitions Hospice as well as Lu, Wendy, and the staff at Amberwood Care Centre.
Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, December 20, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with Father William Wentink officiating.
