Calvin E. Cooper, 73, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, January 17, 2022 after a valiant battle against cancer. He was born July 18, 1948 in Charleston, MO, the son of Everett and Ora B. (Steward) Cooper. Calvin was the owner of State and Madison Billards for many years. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club. Calvin loved playing pool and walking at Atwood Park. He had an interest in collecting old coins and jewelry as well as antiques.
Calvin is loved and missed by his soulmate of 16 years, Iris Kesler; children, Melissa (Ricardo) Rodriguez and Michelle (Darren) Perina; bonus children, Melanie McGuire, Sheila (Mike Bartels) Kesler, AJ Kesler, Sarah (Joel) Wozny; grandchildren, Kc Phengsomphone, Tiffany Wynn, Gage Perina, Emily Perina; many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Jobe “Jay” (Donna) Cooper, Eula Blackshear; as well numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold "Joe" Cooper, sister Mary (Robert Ray) Sowl, brother-in-law, Charles "Jerry" Blackshear.
A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to be held at 2:30 p.m. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
