

Carlos R. Pond, 89, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, August 19, 2026, 3 hours short of his 90th birthday, at UW Swedish American Hospital surrounded by his sons. He was born August 20, 1936 in Poynor, MO, the son of Edley and Velva (Price) Pond. He married Phyllis Addington in June of 1960 and together they had two sons. Carlos was employed as a QA tech at various places and retired from Camcar Textron in Belvidere, IL. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cubs fan. Carlos enjoyed fishing in his spare time, especially going to Beaver Lake in Rogers, AR, where he caught a personal best 23 lb striped bass, which he chased for years. He was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Carlos is survived by his children, Brian R. Pond and Brad (Tami) Pond; grandchildren, Brandon Pond, Alex Pond and Molly Pond, Bryn (Bryce) Witzman and Brady (Shannon) Pond; great-grandson, Braxton Witzman; brothers, Gerald (Karen) Pond, Lyndle (Joyce) Pond and Jim (Val) Pond; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles Pond and Bobby Pond, sisters Clydia McKenna, Caralee Nicholas, and Peggy Halberstadt.
A private family service will take place.
