Charlene A. Zantow, 80, of Rockford, IL, formerly of Loves Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 12, 1942 in Lodi, WI, the daughter of Ralph and Florence Griber. Charlene married the love of her life, Marvin Zantow, on June 20, 1965. She was a crossing guard for Loves Park Elementary School for over 29 years. Charlene enjoyed playing bingo and doing puzzles. The highlight of her day was going to Hollywood Restaurant for coffee, going home to pick up Marvin and going to get her “Pick 3” and her scratch off tickets every day. Charlene was a friendly person who definitely had the “gift of gab.” Charlene will be deeply missed.
Charlene is survived by her children, John Zantow and Steve (Barb King) Zantow; grandchildren, Katerina, Aliyah and Brock; brother-in-law, Jim Zantow; sister-in-law, Shirley Zantow; numerous nieces and nephews, Lisa (Dave) Bock, Ginny (Jeff) Aulik, Terry Stenholm and Michael (Maryann) Zantow. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin and son, David Zantow.
