

Charles W. Stewart, 65 of Rockford, IL passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the VA hospital in Madison, WI. Charles was born April 29, 1949, the son of William Clyde and Harriet (Olson) Stewart of Rockford, IL. Chuck served in the Armed services in Vietnam. He worked as an electrician at Amerock Corp for 36 years until closing. He was a member of the SM & SF Club for 20 years and also a member of The American Legion. Charles was an avid hunter and bowler, also belonged to many trap shooting leagues, and loved NASCAR. Most of all he loved spending time with is grandchildren.
He is survived by Denise Veitch, his loving companion of 25 years. His sons, Charles (Tara) and James Stewart, his daughter Jackie Brush; extended daughters, Carri (Don) Gundlach, Danielle Veitch, and Sara (Nate) Hughes; grandchildren, Scott, Alyssa, Dylan, Hailey, Hunter, and extended grandchildren, Carson, Loren, Elias; and one great granddaughter, Aurora; his sister Joyce (Dwayne) Moore and their sons Bill and Larry, brother Dino Harp (Rhonda) and his daughter Lexi Harp; and his special aunt, Marylou Garrison.
Charles was preceded in death by his father William Clyde Stewart; mother and step-father Harriet and Delmer Harp.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to your favorite Veterans Organization and/or Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary.
Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm followed by Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm Saturday March 14, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Military Honors will be provided after the service.
