Cheryl June Perkins was born on June 10, 1947. Her mother was Lois Ilene Head, and her father Davie Head. She has a sister Jackie (Donnie) Carrico who is here with us today. Before our mother passed on, she spoke to us about some of her fondest memories. We feel very blessed to of had this opportunity to spend this time with our mother before she passed, and to be able to share some of the things we knew, and some of the things we didn’t.
Our mother grew up in Loves Park, Illinois with her family in a 2 bedroom house. The siblings would rotate sleeping arrangements between the bunk beds in the bedroom and the pullout couch. They were all very close, and mom enjoyed the time they spent in the small space. Our mother’s fondest memories were of her mother reading bedtime stories to her and her siblings. She also loved when her mother sang to them.
Mom married at 17 years of age to Earl Williams. They had a baby boy named Earl David Williams who died shortly after delivery. Cheryl and Earl were married for four years.
In 1969 Cheryl married Walter Stoller. She adopted Lisa Marie Stoller in 1970, and gave birth to a baby girl, Julie Ilene Stoller in 1975. Cheryl & Wally were married for eight years.
On March 21, 1980, Cheryl married Charles Eugene Perkins. They married at Bethany Presbyterian Church with Pastor Carlson officiating. On May 28th, 1980, Cheryl and Charles had a son, baby Charlie who was stillborn. From approximately 1980 through 1983, we resided in La Grange, Texas. In 1983 we moved to Beloit, Wisconsin. In 1987 Cheryl gave birth to Jimmy Allen Perkins. She was so proud to have her son. Chuck and Cheryl were happily married for 38 years before her passing.
Throughout Cheryl’s life, she enjoyed many things such as watching wrestling, playing bingo, playing cards, and especially spending time with her family. She loved the company of her dogs and birds. Cheryl was a Girl Scout Leader for approximately fifteen years. Her favorite food was any kind of soup. Her favorite flower was the yellow daisy, and her favorite poem, “Footprints in the Sand”. Cheryl said her biggest accomplishment in life was having a loving, close family. The one thing she never would part with in life was her children. She loved rocking her grandchildren and singing “Rock a Bye Baby”. The best advice she ever received was to trust in God, and the advice she gave was to believe in miracles.
Mom is survived by her husband Charles Eugene Perkins, daughters, Lisa Marie Stoller (fiancée Keith Kline), and Julie (Roger) Smith, step-children, Robert Perkins, and Ricky Perkins, grandchildren, Ashley (fiance' Zachary Paulson), Terry, Alaxandria, Gabrielle, Travis, Kiara, Kyle Smith, Anna and Rachel Perkins; Great grandchildren, Keanu, Nevaeh, and Naiya; a sister Jackie (Donnie) Carrico, Brother in law Wayne Schewe, Sister in law Carol Head, nieces, and nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Allen Perkins, and three siblings, Karen (Virgil) Hayenga, Jean (Wayne) Schewe, and Gary (Carol) Head.
