Chester W. Steinke

Chester "Chet" W. Steinke, 77, of Cherry Valley, Illinois passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Chet was born October 9, 1945 in Birnamwood, Wi, the son of Elmer and Ruth (Surprise) Steinke. Chet joined the US Army August 21, 1963 and was Honorably discharged on April 20, 1971. Chet was a true Patriot of his country. Chet married Jacqueline Luedtke on January 21, 1967 in Wausau, WI. Chet worked at Chrysler when Chrysler first opened and retired after 30 years. Chet was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed NASCAR. He also loved being outdoors and traveling. He and his family share many beloved memories from boating on the Mississippi River, to camping and traveling around the USA.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Jacqueline; son, Tim (Loretta); daughters, Holly and Kori; grandchildren, Troy Jr. "TJ" and Hailey; siblings, Gladys (Issac), Eileen, Carole (Dick), Steve (Tina) and Pam. Predeceased by parents.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 10, 2023 in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with a visitation from 12:30 PM until time of service. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to be used in Chet's name at a later date.
