Christine L. Nichols was called home to our Lord on Monday, December 6, 2021. She was born on October 18, 1940 in Plain, Wisconsin to Doyle and Ethel (Jeglum) Logeson. She was a 1958 graduate of West High School in Rockford. She married Roger Nichols June 17, 1967 in Rockford. When she was 19, she started working as a stenographer for the Rockford Fire Department, where she worked for 10 years. In 1971, Christine and Roger moved to South Bend, IN where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. After Roger’s death she returned to Rockford in 1990 where she was employed by the State of Illinois for 25 years. She retired in 2015.
She is survived by her son Peter Nichols (Stephanie) and her daughter Denise Perkins (Marc), her grandchildren Julian, Claudia, Lilly, Donovan and Grayson and her brother and sisters, Roger Logeson (Martha), Sonia Erickson (Wayne), Jan Hayes (Peter), and Nancy Urnezis and many nieces and nephews. Christine joins her parents Doyle and Ethel (Jeglum) Logeson, her two sisters Joan Carmen and Patricia Logeson, her brother-in-law Tom Urnezis, and her husband Roger Nichols in heaven.
Christine was a devout Catholic who loved life through simple pleasures. She loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She loved watching movies, listening to music, and baking. She was a huge animal lover and her generosity knew no bounds.
Family and friends are invited on Monday, December 13 to Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL for the visitation and funeral service. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00 followed by a funeral service. Following the funeral she will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Winnebago.
