

Darleen Carrico, 74 formerly of Machesney Park lost her long courageous battle to breast cancer on Oct 1, 2010 with her family by her side. She was born May 23, 1936 in Kingsford, MI to the late Gilbert and Sidonia Cunningham. She graduated from Beloit High School in 1955. She married the love of her life ADell Carrico on Oct. 9, 1981. She worked for years as a private nurses’ aide prior to retiring from Life Touch Publishing to care for her husband. Darleen enjoyed camping, playing cards, rummage sales and crafts, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Randall (Anne) Brewer, Pecatonica, IL; Wanda (Dave) Brempell, Green Bay, WI; Joleen (Dan) Zellers, Leaf River, IL; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters and 3 great-grandsons. Her siblings: Gilbert “Gooch” (Shirley) Cunningham, Janesville WI; Eunice Goodman, Mustang, OK; Lola McGraw, Cuba City, WI; Dayton “Bud” (Linda) Cunningham, Mauston, WI; and special family friend, John “Brother” Logan, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, ADell Carrico; sisters Katherine Alleva and Bernadine Will; niece Debra Mott; nephews Harold “Butch” Goodman Jr. and Dale Goodman; sister- in- law Norma Carrico; brother-in-laws, Bud McGraw and Harold Goodman Sr.; grand-daughter Monica Zellers; and two loyal companions Peanut and Carla. A very special thank you to Susan Pieski for being a cherished friend, you are a true angel, and Dr. Korkmaz and the staff at St. Anthony Center for Cancer Care and the hospital, especially those on the fourth floor for all their kindness, support and care they provided and to the staff at Rockford Cardiovascular Associates. Visitation will be held in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. and Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial brick at the St. Anthony Cancer Center‘s Garden Path of Hope.
