Della Lawanda Tucker, age 94, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. She was born on September 7, 1932 in Ballard County, Kentucky to Charles and Fanny (Ford) Poole. She worked for over 30 years as a store manager at Noble Grocery. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of South Beloit.
She loved to travel, she enjoyed going on cruises to the Caribbean, traveled to Egypt and Isreal, and went to South America. She liked to spend time outdoors in her garden watching the hummingbirds. Most of all she loved her family.
Lawanda is survived by her children, Edward L. (Denise) Barber, William “Randy” Barber, and David D. Barber; grandchildren, Adam, Andrew, Kim, Melissa, Christina, Brandon, and Kaylie; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Pam Barber; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Tucker; son, Bobby R. Barber; great-grandchild, Ryan; parents, Charles and Fanny Poole; and siblings, Charles Poole, Billy Poole, and Reuben Poole.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Salvation Army or Illinois Baptist Children's Home and Family Services.
Visitation for Lawanda will be held Tuesday, September 15 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 am. Burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
