Deniece Mona (nee Jones) Burnell, 64, of Rockford, passed away at home surround by her loving family on March 11, 2020. She was born to her late parents, Rufus and Ophelia (nee Pointer) Jones on September 4, 1955.
Deniece was the manager of the Circulation Department at Rockford Register Star for over 20 years until retirement. She received her real estate license and became a realtor for a short while.
She enjoyed reading, making crafts, and watching her favorite teams, the New England Patriots (NFL) and Duke Blue Devils (NCAA Basketball). Most of all Deniece loved attending and watching her grandson’s football games; from NFL Flag Football games all the way up the collegiate level.
Deniece is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Eddie Burnell Jr.; Children Dawn Burnell and Eddie Burnell III; Grandchildren, Shaylar and Zoey Burnell; Sisters, Gail Blackmare and Beverly Collins; as well as many other family members and friends.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, Deniece's Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation and Celebration of Life Memorial Service have been postponed until late April.
