

Dennis L. Alberts, 66 of Loves Park, passed away May 17, 2014. Born October 15, 1947 in Rockford, he was the son of Lester and Virginia (Leber) Alberts. He married Barbara Norman July 15, 1967 in Rockford.
A graduate of Harlem High School, Dennis was the owner and president of IMC-USA Consulting Group. He attended Rock Valley College and was previously employed with Ingersoll Milling Machine Company for more than 20 years.
Dennis traveled extensively throughout his career and most recently climbed the Great Wall of China.
He attended Heartland Community Church and was a previous member of Chapelwood Free, Loves Park Free, and First Free Church. He was also a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, and AWANA Leader.
An avid L.A. Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys fan, he enjoyed golf, coaching baseball and basketball; and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Alberts; children, Heather (Gene) Spillare, Kimberly (David) Reyes, and Matthew (Holly) Alberts; grandchildren, Blaine, Erin, and Evan Schanfeldt, Megan and Gavin Alberts; step-grandchildren, Sarah, Bridget, and Danielle Spillare, and Jennah (Justin) Paul; sister, Jacqueline Smith; and many other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Edward Alberts.
Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park; with Pastor Dale Anderson officiating. Visitation 9 a.m. to time of service.
