Dixie Lou Youngs

Our beautiful prayer warrior mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend is dancing the golden streets of heaven with her wonderful Jesus. He welcomed her into eternal joy on September 13, 2026. She had been longing for her promised land in recent months as a weary pilgrim and patiently waited for the call to cross the river with her Savior.

Our Dixie was the only child of the late Guy and Luella Tice. Born September 1, 1934, in Alliance, Nebraska, she would move to Grand Island, Nebraska in her early and later school age years as they moved for her father's work many times. It is in Grand Island where her parents became lifelong friends with neighbors, the Youngs family. Little did she know that their son, Leroy, would become her future husband.

Because Dixie was an only child, her cousins were her brothers and sisters. By God's providence, her moving to new schools many times growing up is what lead her to develop the ability to make new friends easily and become a person of integrity and compassion. Returning to Grand Island in her high school years, Dixie started dating the handsome sailor and friend, Leroy Youngs. They married on June 28, 1953, and had three children, Vicky, Kim, and Craig. Moving to Rockford following Leroy's Navy service in 1957, Dixie was a stay-at-home mom, nurturing her children with love and supporting and encouraging her husband in his growing career as an Architectural Draftsman. Eventually as her children grew, she began working as a receptionist at OB-GYN and Assoc. Her personality and organizational skills lead to the doctors promoting her to Office Manager where she remained until her retirement after 32 years.

Dixie was a member of Turning Point Church of Rockford in her final season of life. She absolutely loved Jesus, and she loved her shepherd who sits under The Shepherd, Pastor Steve Lapp. She repeatedly praised God for his Spirit filled words of truth and we thank him for preparing her soul for this final journey.

Dixie is survived by her three children, Vicky (Ron) Faraher, Kim (Sam) Enderle, and Craig (Karen) Youngs. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Jason (Carrie) Faraher, Jeremy (Lynsey) Faraher, Sam Enderle, Nicholas (Andrea) Enderle, Zachary (Elizabeth) Enderle and Sydney (Jerry) King; 11 great-grandchildren, Dayne, Jaxon, Hudson, and Robert Faraher; Noelle, Adelyn, Maxwell, Quinn, and Elijah Enderle; Paxton and Oliver King; and many dear friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Leroy, in 2017.

The family wants to thank Independence Village, especially Rea, Dixie's home for the past several years, and Mo Cara Hospice, especially Sarah, for their compassionate, loving care for Dixie and friend to us, her family.
