Don L Landis

He was born July 19, 1937 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Don P. and Bessie (Young) Landis. He married his wife Lenore M Ellison on October 21, 1995 in the Church by the side of the road, Rockton, Illinois after being together 19 years. He attended meetings at the Jehovah Witness Hall-North, he worked as a young boy on his uncles farm in Iowa and later for Gunite Foundry. He retired from Rockford Products in 1995 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed a 65 year hobby of working on gas engines and attending threshree shows in several states. He was always tinkering with small engine repairs and loved to go to auctions. He belonged to Northern Motorcycle Club. He looked forward to week-end trips with Lenore and enjoyed a variety of music.

Don is survived by his wife of 17 years Lenore; sons; Russell, and Jeffrey (Roxanne) Landis, grandchildren; Christopher, Brittany, Matthew and others, brothers; Dale (JoAnn) Landis, Jim (Mona) Landis, Bill (Mary) Landis, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Always loved, never forgotten, Michael, Brian, Brenda and Scott, Mother of his children Sandra (Germann) Landis, grandpa Don’s neighborhood granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Friday September 7, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL. Funeral Services will be at 2:00p.m. on Saturday September 8, 2012 also at Sunset Funeral Home. Scott Griffeth will officiate services.
