

Dorothy Watts (fondly known as Grandma Dot or Aunt Dot), 97, of Rockford passed away at her residence with her family by her side on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Dorothy was born on December 1, 1915 in Albia, IA, the daughter of Marie (Thomas) and Cornelius Miller. She married Henry Robert Watts on January 6, 1934 in Argyle, IL; Henry preceded her in death on September 25, 1946. Dorothy was a member of the Rockford Seventh- Day Adventist Church; she worked as a nurse at St. Anthony Hospital for 5 years and Rockford Memorial Hospital for 18 years before retiring. Dorothy is survived by her two sons: Henry Richard Watts (Vernita), David Elroy Watts (Deanna); 6 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Cornelius and Marie, her husband Henry, brother Donald Thomas, sister Bernice Hall, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild. A service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL. Burial will be private.
