Edward J. Swick, age 77, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. He was born on January 19, 1947 in Rockford, Illinois to James and Wilma Swick. Edward graduated from West High School in 1965. He was an offensive guard on the first undefeated Illinois high school football team, the 1965 Rockford West Warriors, and very proud of it. He was a gregarious, fun-loving friend to all, who charmed everyone from strangers on the street to his friends at Latham Tap to the nurses who called him “the best one.” He was also proud of the fact that he maintained a relationship with many of his friends from high school. But it wasn’t just people that benefitted from his kindness and warmth. Edward was a lover of animals, showing Arabian horses and riding whenever he got the chance. You could often find him in the stable talking to his dearly loved Quarter horse Squaw. Edward’s dog Tramper traveled with him wherever he went, and was a loyal and cherished companion.
Edward is survived by his brother, Dennis (Anna) Swick; sister Dawn (Kevin) Taylor; beloved step-daughter Kimberly “Kimber” Henry; aunt Norma Owens; uncle Ronald Swick; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wilma Swick; beloved partner, Linda L.; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
