Mrs. Ella Mae Taylor, a mother, grandmother, great grandma, aunt, cousin, friend, and devoted wife to Renard Taylor for 46 years was a humble servant of God. She passed quietly in her home at the age of 89. She was stern but had a keen sense of humor. She never met a stranger. Ella loved family gatherings, cookouts, and holiday parties. She loved listening to music, loved dancing and dressing in the latest styles. Her favorite saying when asked how she was doing was "I feel good like I knew I would, getting down like James Brown."
Ella was born January 14, 1936, in Boliver, TN. She graduated from Boliver High School and moved to Rockford, IL. the same year. After relocating to Rockford she was employed for 15 years at General Electric Company then Honeywell for many years until retirement.
Ella was a firm believer in giving back to her community and volunteered for 10 years at the former Samaritan House on the West side of Rockford who gave food and clothing to the less fortunate in our community.
Ella Taylor married Renard Taylor (yes, they both had the same last name) on May 11, 1979. Ella from a previous marriage brought to the union nine offsprings and Renard five. They had a blended family of fourteen.
During her transition it is appropriate to give special recognition to granddaughters Monica, Chloe, and great-granddaughters, Charizma and Chaznee for their tender loving care and comfort. Also, much gratitude for her two caregivers, Emily and Dorothy.
Ella leaves to cherish her memory and legacy, her loving husband, Renard Taylor; daughters, Debra Dewalt (John), Brenda Taylor, Yolanda Taylor; sons, Wesley Black, Darryl Taylor, Eric Taylor, Derek (Naomi) Taylor; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; step-children, Renee Taylor, Denise Taylor, Deon Taylor, Caleen Bluett, and Cynthia Bluett.
