Erda Irene Johnson, age 98, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026. She was born on December 27, 1927 in Chana, Illinois to Wilke and Katie Englekes. Erda was a proud mother to seven children and dedicated her life to raising and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading in her free time and taking trips to the casino with friends.
Erda is survived by her children, Sandy Bienvenu, Dennis Johnson, Joel Johnson, and Mike (Kris) Johnson; way too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to list; and significant other, Roger Jury.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Harry Haye and Joel Johnson; children, Dianne Flynn, Tom Haye, and Jim Johnson; parents, Wilke and Katie Englekes; and ten siblings.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mision or St Jude Children’s Hospital.
A service for Erda will be held Saturday, July 18 at 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd Machesney Park, IL 61115 with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
