Estle Ray Newman

Estle Ray Newman, 80, of Rockford died Sunday, September 05, 2010 at Alpine Fireside Nursing Home. Born February 27, 1930 in Oklahoma, the son of Arthur L and Viccie (Gaither) Newman. He served in the U.S. Navy. Ray worked as a plumber for California State University until retirement in 1992. He enjoyed plumbing, watching westerns and especially watching Wheel of Fortune. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Machesney Park. Ray married Rosalie Sullivan-Eads on December 5, 1994. Survivors include his wife Rosalie Eads of Loves Park, IL, daughter Gail (Joe) Risser, grandchildren, Jennifer and Cody Risser all of Greenwood, IN, step-daughter, Rhonda (Darryl) Jones, step-grandchildren, Dane and Luke Walker, Jacob and Joshua Jones all of Winnebago, IL , brother, Ira (Pat) Newman of Perris, CA, sisters, Ann (Harold) Casto of Rockford, Ruth (Myrlin) Vanderhoff of Flint, MI, and Wilma (Jerry) Rushing of Thayer, MO. He was predeceased by parents, brother, Arthur J. Newman, two sisters, Virginia “Dorothy” Crawford and Opal Janise Newman. He will be dearly missed by all his loved ones and his many friends. Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
