Eugene R. Black

Eugene was born on June 23, 1944 in Oregon, IL, the son of Harold and Lucille Haenitch Black. He married Doreen Jill Baxter on 5/6/78. Eugene worked at Rockford Products and was a member of Union Grange for 36 years. Eugene loved to read, play cards, and go camping and travel.

Eugene is survived by his wife Jill; son Corey (Raven) Black; grandson Jake Black; mother Lucille Black; brother James Black; sister Marge Cox-Hammes and special cat “Daffy”.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father Harold; mother and father-in-law Doris and Bruce Baxter; brothers-in-laws Terry Lindsay and Bob Hammes.

The family would like to thank VNA Hospice for all their help and care that was given to Eugene.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

A service to celebrate Eugene’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Monday September 8, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park with Pastor Anthony Maynard officiating. Visitation for Eugene will be Sunday September 7, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
