

Evelyn was born on February 24, 1909 in Brownton, MN, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Bremer) Prochnow. After graduating from Brownton High School in 1927, she moved to New Ulm and worked as a clerk at Woolworth until 1930 where she met and married Tom Brown. Tom preceded her in death in 1941. She then moved to Rockford and again worked for Woolworths. In 1944 she married Swen Benson in Burlington, VT, and he preceded her in death in 1992. Evelyn worked in various businesses; the last was at Rockford Appliance.
Evelyn loved to bake cookies, crochet afghans, plant flowers and go fishing. She and Swen had a home on Lake of the Woods in MN and enjoyed summers there for 20 years. Evelyn was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since 1945 and a member of the Ladies Aid Society.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters-in-law Inga Benson and Lucy Jenson; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and sister Syllvia Jannicke.

A service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday February 7, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church 827 16th St. Rockford. Private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
