Life was hard for her but a little easier with the help of her mother and father. She raised some unusual pets: squirrels, rabbits, opossums, and her ground hog. Florence came to Rockford in her late teens. In 1945 she met an American Soldier by the name of Ben Buckman when she was working in a restaurant as waitress. It was love at first sight and she married him shortly after meeting him. Her family is still growing with an abundance of great grandchildren and there is nothing she loved more than her whole family. Florence enjoyed reading, sewing, playing solitaire, and cross word puzzles. She really loved creating things with her husband, his passions became hers. That’s how she found herself excited to catch another huge bass, because they loved to fish together. She was a wonderful person in every aspect of life, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Florence will be missed by all, especially her family.
Florence is survived by her children, Nancy Files, Diana Buckman, and Ted (Janet) Buckman; grandchildren, Ted Jr., Joanie, Daniel, Mariana, Phaedra, Thana, Danielle, James Jr., Joseph Benjamin, and Jessica Rae; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Buckman; granddaughter, Laura Ann; brothers, Frank, James, Roy, Guy, and Eldon Tillford.
