Gary R. Anderson

Gary R. Anderson, 71, of Rockford passed away Friday July 7, 2017 with his family by his side. Gary was born on June 15, 1946 in Rockford, the son of Raymond and Amelia Anderson. Gary married Angela M. Salamone on February 21, 1970. Gary was district manager for Burger King Restaurants for 20 years before owning his own Subway Restaurant Franchise. Gary was a 1964 graduate of Rockford East High School where he was an outstanding baseball and basketball player. Gary was a member of the Eagles Club and an avid CUBS and BEARS fan. Gary loved to go to Cherry Vale Mall and join in with the mall walkers; he was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.

Gary is survived by his wife Angela, son Gerald R. Anderson, daughter Christine M. Anderson and husband Cory L. Trotter, grandson Tyler A. Anderson, granddaughter Ashley M. Trotter; special cousin Barbara Moan and special niece Noel LaMendola.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.

A service to celebrate Gary’s life will be 10:00 am Friday July 14, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation for Gary will be from 9:00 am until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
