Gary was a 1961 graduate of West High School and was in ROTC. He married Margaret Henson on August 8, 1964. Gary worked many years as an Electrical Engineer for Ingersoll, Sundstrand, Ekstrom, Clinton Electronics and Bourn & Koch, Inc. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula, IA and as well as the Flatlanders and Rockford Power Squadron. Gary also enjoyed model railroading, boating and off-roading.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret; children, Trisha (Laine) Olson and Pam (Karsten) Franks; grandchildren, Taylor Kaitlyn Olson, Katie Dylan Zweep, Sydney Franks and Konner Franks; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Emersyn Olson; siblings, Sandy Pyper and Gerald (Frieda) Worrall and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
