Geraldine R. Carroll

Geraldine R. Carroll, age 92, of Rockford, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 22, 2024. She was born October 18, 1931 in Dixon, Illinois, the daughter of Frank & Lena (Rohde) Trotter. She married Robert Carroll on February 1, 1958; he preceded her in death on January 29, 1991.

During her life as a homemaker, Geraldine worked at the Northwest Community Center, as an election judge, as a lunch aide at Ellis School, and as a daycare worker, Sunday school aide and MELD support for the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Geraldine is survived by her children Dana (Colleen) Carroll of Belvidere, IL, Debbie (Bob) Allen of Chetek, WI, Gail Carroll of Belvidere, IL, Scott (Shari) Carroll of Bagley, IA, and Mark Carroll of Rockford, IL; her 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son Charlie; her brothers Edward Trotter, William Trotter and Gerald Trotter; her sisters Betty Dennison, Marge Hinkle, Kay Levan, Helen Mackh, Darlene Nehrkorn, Viola Reis, Virginia Smith, Esther Thayer, Jean Van Matre, and Ethel Wells.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2 from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm at Sunset Funeral Home in Machesney Park, followed by a short remembrance of life at 12:45 pm and a private Burial of Cremains.
