After graduating from Rockford High School in 1929, she worked at National Lock and Ingersoll.
Most of her career was spent as executive secretary to Nils Testor from 1938 – 1967. After her retirement from Testor Chemical Company, she worked from 1967 – 1991 at the Winnebago County Courthouse.
Gertrude was a long time member of Harlem United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader of biographies and historical fiction. She loved to discuss current events and politics.
Gertrude, known to family as Aunt E, was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert, and a brother Harold. She is survived by 6 nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Helen Miller and Agnes Miller.
