To me, Gladys will always be remembered as such a very strong woman of faith. She always had words of encouragement for young or old that created a connection. God truly works in mysterious ways❤️
So blessed to have had Gladys in my life.

My dad gave me a postcard of Rosie the riveter back when I was in junior high. That picture, even then, didn't require much explanation--it emanates what amazing women are truly capable of. I've kept it with me ever since. A few years ago Sebastian gave me a larger image of her that hangs prominently in my kitchen. It is a daily reminder for me to stay strong, persevere, never doubt myself, always find a way to be a help, and never stop fighting for the ones you love.

Grandma was my Rosie. She was everything that image depicted with a thick layer of grace and resolve to top it all off. It hurts to lose her. I try to turn my grief into gratitude for having been blessed with such an extraordinary example to live by. I'm blessed to still see her in the goodness and strength of the incredible women she leaves behind--in my aunt and my sister.

The kids have appropriately coined a bold move in our Uno games as the "Great-Grammie": when you lay down a Draw Four, you have to pause, smile at the person on the receiving end and in a sweet and sincere tone follow it with a genuine "Sorry". She will be with us always, but we will miss her equally as much as we love her. We will love like you did, Grandma, fiercely and without hesitation, and it will give us the strength we need to keep going, no matter what.

Gladys was an amazing lady, always kind and caring. She never let age stop her. She will be missed by her KOG church family as well.

My beloved Aunt Gladys:  My thoughts of you always make me smile.  My memories of you and your lovely family are innumerable and indelible.  You and your family impacted my life in so many ways.  You have been an inspiration and a role model throughout my life.  You exemplified the teachings of love and compassion of Christ in all that you did.  You oozed sweetness and goodness in your words and actions.  You were so rooted in your faith and it, along with your strong constitution, carried you through life’s challenges with such grace and resolve.  
As a child, you introduced me to the beautiful southern shores of Lake Michigan, the Museum of Science and Industry and dressing up for the opulent theater in the big city.  As a teenager, you cheered and supported my academic and athletic accomplishments.  As an adult, you generously shared your knowledge and experiences to guide in my decision making.  You always had an open door and open phone line.  I enjoyed all of our visits in Lake Havasu and listening to you reminisce about life’s events and the many lessons life offers.  You were always optimistic and saw the best in people.  Your thirst for life and persistent intellectual curiosity kept you engaged in global and community events.  On numerous occasions in very recent years, my telephone calls interrupted your watching Wheel of Fortune and Chicago City Council meetings.  😊    
Clay, David and Candy are some of the most remarkable people I know.  They have shown selfless dedication to their families and their communities.  It is evident that your grandchildren and great grandchildren will continue your legacy of love, kindness, compassion and selfless service to their communities.  
Yours is a life to emulate my dear Aunt Gladys.  Rest in peace, surrounded by our other family members who we have lost:  your dear husband, your son, your brother, your sister, your grandson and others.  So blessed to have been touched by an angel.

When I think about Aunt Glad, I think of someone that was thoughtful and generous; always.  I have birthday cards, valentines  and Christmas cards signed by her and on behalf of her family going all the way back to my first birthday.  She didn't forget.
I really don't care for Cool Whip at all, but when I see it I think of Aunt Glad because she loved it.   She taught me to wait to frost a cupcake  with frosting until right before you eat it, because it tasted fresher.  She was right!
Aunt Glad was my Mom's best friend.  My Mother was probably one of the few that knew how tough she was on the inside and the outside.
Candy and Randy took such great care of Aunt Gladys, thank you so much for everything. 
I'm sorry we cannot be there with you both.  I'm sure you are exhausted physically and emotionally.

My sincere condolences.  Aunt Glad was an amazing lady.  I have and always will smile and laugh with the memories of your home and our trips to Chicago.  Your guys were incredible hosts.  The trips to the Brookfield zoo, the museums and parks.  We spent some wonderful times playing in the backyard in Oaklawn and hanging out in the basement.  Heck I think your basement was were I first fell in love with hockey!  I still enjoy an occasional trip to Wrigley.

Through all of trips and adventures one thing  was  a constant from your mom. Her love and compassion.  When we were young and the traffic was loud she would hold our hand crossing the street or walking down a busy sidewalk.  She would squeeze your hand twice.......She said even when it is loud and you can not hear me that is to let you know I love you.  

Thank you for all you have done throughout your life for my mom and our entire family.  Aunt Glad...across the heavens here are two squeezes of my hand to yours....I love you.  


Beautiful Gladys,

May you sleep a pleasant, eternal dream, after a life given to your sons, daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who had the opportunity to meet and get to know you. You were a great woman, a good wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Your knowledge, teachings, and good feelings crossed borders. We had the opportunity to see it and feel it through Tiff and Britt, a strong, determined woman, dedicated one hundred percent in what she proposes. She is a good representative of you, of her grandma Gladys.

We are happy and grateful to have known your greatness and generosity. Doubly grateful for welcoming and supporting our son, Pepe. Thank you again.

We see and think that your way of life, your generosity and empathy towards others, will continue to be present in your family, in Candy, Randy, Tiff and Britt, to name a few, who will be good ambassadors of your teachings.

We love you, Gladys. We'll see you. We know that you will receive us and you will be with open arms to welcome us, when it's our turn to depart.

Gladys, such a dear, sweet, inspiring lady. I feel very blessed to have had her friendship in my life.  Meeting her at King of Glory Lutheran Church, we became friends through a donation of some furniture for her grandson, Austin.  Our friendship continued to grow in so many ways, and extend out to many other senior citizens in my PrimeTimers group at King of Glory. 
 We enjoyed her dear husband, Jack and tried to be a source of comfort for her after his passing, as well as that of her grandson, Austin and son, David.  Such a very strong Christian woman – many admired and were in awe of her faith.  God never stopped using her as a means of “spreading the word” – even from her hospital bed, she shared the love of Jesus many, many times with doctors, nurses and visitors.
I will always treasure the memories of Gladys joining our PrimeTimer Events, because she never missed an opportunity that Jesus provided - she enjoyed a pontoon boat ride on Lake Geneva with a group of us, during which she spoke loving, gentle words of comfort to a friend of mine that had brain cancer; she opened her home for me to host Primetimer luncheons, so she could stay in touch w/church friends; she  participated in our church Christmas program, first as an angel (how appropriate) in “The Nativity Story” and only a few years ago she was one of nine seniors that played “jingle Bells” on a light-weight set of hand bells. A wealth of treasured memories of a very treasured friendship.
My sympathy and prayers of comfort and peace to ALL of her beloved family that was so very precious to her….from her siblings to her great-greats (as she would say).
Rest in God’s loving arms, Gladys and thank you for your loving friendship.
