H. Mae Babe Stonewall, age 99, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025. She was born April 8, 1925 to William and H. Vivin (Forberg) Hall in Rockford, Illinois. She graduated from Rockford East High School. H. Mae was a member of the Retired Teamsters. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and playing BINGO. H. Mae retained her drivers license and was looking forward to taking her driving test in April so she could still say she could drive at 100 years old.
She is survived by her children, Donald (Cheryl) Sowl, Dana (Sandy) Sowl, Sandy Orsborne, and David (June) Sowl; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, George Hall.
She is preceded in death by three husbands, Donald Sowl Sr., Roe Wanke, and Bill Stonewall; grandchildren, Christine and Donny; great-grandchildren, Nick and Michael; parents, William and H. Vivian Hall; and siblings, Bill, Lefty, Virginia, Ruthie, and Burl.
A visitation for H. Mae will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
