Hazel Y. Downs, 89, of Rockton, IL, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2020. Hazel was born on June 17, 1930 in Bear Creek, Alabama to Roy and Harriet Carden, who were blessed with 10 children, with Hazel being the last surviving sibling. Predeceased by her husband James, son Wayne and son-in-law Scott Dreier. Hazel is survived by her children Ron (Susan) Downs, Patti Dreier and Linda Downs (Sam). Her grandchildren Brandi (Chad), Jim (Cassie), Josh (Ashley), Kayla, Amanda (Carl), Jeremy (Julia), Nikki, Brian (Sonia), Mike (Ashley), Jen. Her great grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Logan, Jaxon, Avery, Cory, Kayla, Jordan, Danny, Mia, Brennan and Maverick. She is also survived by her dearest friend Geraldine Carden (sister-in-law), as well as many extended family members and friends from various states. Burial will be located at Sunset Memorial Gardens, where services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fair Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in South Beloit and/or Northern Illinois Hospice.
