Helen Estes Lawrence went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. She was born January 11, 1937 in Rockford, IL, to George and Catherine (Cresse) Estes. She was the last of fourteen children, eight brothers and five sisters; Carl, Everett "Buck", Andrew "Andy", Robert "Bob", George, Jr., Thomas, Lloyd and Charles "Chuck", Clara Mae, Dorothy, Marg, Betty and Judith "Judy." Married to Lonnie Lawrence for many years, living their lives to the fullest, with so many happy memories. They spent much time with their children and families at horse show events. Helen and Lonnie had four children, Gale, Tami (Jay), Jerry (Stacy), and Joan (Rick). Lonnie passed away on January 12, 2000. Their grandchildren are Roxanne, Barry, Ashley, Rikki, Brittany, Tess, Jory, Alona, and Samantha, great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Tre, Desmon, Aaliyah, Kaylie, Talia, Amicia, Carl W., Trevor, Ava, and Arie. Helen worked at Rockford Post Office carrying mail to rural routes for many years. After retiring in January of 1999, she started working as a pilot car driver, carrying oversize loads all over the country, and went to every state except one, Hawaii. She loved driving and most of all, spending time with her family. She'd say, "Love telling the truck drivers what to do, lol!" Helen enjoyed working with some great and kind truck drivers, taking the bridge beams where they were needed. She loved her church family at Firstborn Ministries and her Pastor, Wendell Maynard. He is certainly one you'd want to hear God's message from. Special friend, Julie Pingel, special nieces and nephews, special sister-in-law, Jean Estes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Firstborn Ministries.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Firstborn Ministries, 8213 North Alpine Rd, Loves Park, IL, 61115 with a service to follow at 1:00 PM. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
