Jack Edward Simpson, 86, of Loves Park, left for Heaven on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Generations at Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron, IL. Born January 4, 1934 in Rockford. Son of Charles and Muriel (Alberts) Simpson. Attended East High School until he enlisted in February 1951 in the United States Army. Jack was Honorably Discharged in April 1951 due to his vision. Jack came back to Rockford and then moved with the Monnahan Family to Oregon where he attended Oregon High School graduating in 1954. He was employed as a Pump Attendent at Sipe’s Corners where he met the love of his life, Patricia Breseman as she worked there as well. Together they were united in marriage on March 10, 1959 at United Methodist Church in Oregon. In 1961 he achieved his greatest wish and became a private pilot. Together with Pat, they started their family and had two sons. Jack was employed by Barber Colman in Production Control until he went on vision disability in 1978. He became active with The Center for the Blind and was then involved with the Braille Dots Glee Club and the Bold Print Band. Long time member of Forest Hills Free Evangelical Church where he was in the church choir and active with the Awana's. Jack was also involved with Nursing Home Outreach where he played guitar and told jokes. He returned to school at Rockford College where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music. Jack was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears Fan. Thanks to Pat Hughes for the Radio Calls so he could follow along.
Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Pat; sons, Ralph and Robert; grandchildren, Samuel, Kristina and Kathryn Simpson; siblings, Judith (Mike) Smith, Stanley (Becky Glover) Simpson, Carl (Mary Ellen) Simpson; sister-in-law, Diane Simpson; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Muriel Simpson; brothers, Arthur and Thomas.
Family Wishes to Thank Dr. William Cowden, the Heros on the 5th and 6th Floor of Javon Bea Mercy Hospital on Riverside, Mercy Hospice and Generations at Neighbors Nursing Home for all their compassionate care of Dad. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Jack’s name to Forest Hills Free Evangelical Church.
