James Dray
December 2, 1931 – December 9, 2012
James Dray, 81, of Rockford left this earth to join his heavenly family Sunday, December 9, 2012. James was born December 2, 1931, in Rockford, son of Clyde and Elizabeth (Charlton) Dray. He served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Sheridan during the Korean War. He married Sue Short on January 15, 1956. They were inseparable. When you saw one, you would see the other. Sue passed away November 8, 2011.
He was the owner of Dray’s Plastering. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed following his grandchildren’s endeavors through life, playing cards, shooting pool, sharing stories and helping others. He had a nickname for everyone. In retirement he enjoyed reading his Bible, working in his yard and having lunch at Alpine View Restaurant. He lived a full life.
Survived by son, Joseph (Tammy) Dray; daughter, Karen (Scott) Hulick; grandchildren, Trisha, Cassie and Tyler Dray, Logan and Jordan Hulick; great grandchild, Joscelyn Posada; sister, Diane (Tony) Rodriquez.
Predeceased by parents, wife, Sue, grandchild, Luke Hulick, brothers, Bill, Joe and Duane Dray, sisters, Arlene Casazza, Betty Durns, Marilyn Baxter and JoAnn Dray. Memorial Service 10:30 a.m. Saturday December 15 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Brenda Byrne will officiate. Visitation 9:30 a.m. to time of service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be given to the family. Online condolences may be submitted at www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com.
