James E. Heathscott, Sr. 72, of Loves Park passed away Tuesday October 4, 2022, at OSF St. Anthony Hospital. James was born on February 4, 1950, in Walnut Ridge, AR., son of Everett Thomas Heathscott Sr., Alliene Mae Brock and Grannie Heathscott. He married Bonnie M. Mohr and was a truck driver for A & B Freight Line. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Baptist Faith. He loved bowling, fishing, wood working, working on cars when he was younger and avid Chicago Bears fan. He was Bowling City Champ at the age of 19. He shared his birthday with Crystal Angel and Kelsie Heathscott Sain; he was the best “Husband & Dad” ever.
James is survived by his loving wife Bonnie; children: James (Shannon) Heathscott Jr., Tina Heathscott, Travis (Sandra) Heathscott and Clinton (Brandy) Robbins; grandchildren: Zach Nociti, Jimmy Heathscott III, Samantha Heathscott, Joey Heathscott, Hayley Heathscott, Skylar Heathscott, Crystal Heathscott, Travis Heathscott Jr., Jonatan Mendez, Juan Mendez, Alex Robbins and Macayla Robbins; great-grandchildren: Owen, Maliyah, Cayden, Noah, Skylyn, Jason, Willow, Kahili, Emilia, Ariela and one on the way; sisters: Glenna Calvert and Rena (Charlie) Kern; sisters-in-laws: Cathy Heathscott, Malinda Heathscott and Jackie Gilbert; brother-in-law: Gil Mohr.
James was preceded in death by his parents: brothers: Everett “Tom” Heathscott Jr., Charlie Heathscott and Ronnie Gilbert; sister: Vicki Mohr.
Visitation for James will be Thursday October 6, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; service to celebrate James's life will be Friday October 7, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Military Honors. Burial will follow at Willwood Burial Park in Rockford.
