

James M. "Jim" Soldin, 78, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 26, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born December 14, 1947 in Rockford, IL, the son of Elmer and Martha (Holmes) Soldin. Jim graduated from high school and went on to serve in the United States Army. He was employed in the test lab at Hamilton Sunstrand for over 40 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing. He loved cooking and feeding his family, especially during cookouts and pizza nights with his grandchildren, Donovan, Dominic, Dino and Daviana. He was a dog lover, especially his doberman, Alex. Most of all, he loved spending the last years living with his son, Josh, who was his around the clock caregiver along with his wife, Kim, who graciously put up with each other's shenanigans along with their children, Donovan, Dominic, Dino, Daviana and their five dogs, Alex, Beatrice, Cosmo, Tobias and Eli.
He is loved and missed by his son, Joshua (Kim) Soldin; daughter, Jamie Soldin; grandchildren, Donovan, Dominic, Dino and Daviana Soldin, Chance Brockway, Ashton, Skylar, Devin and Layne Kundo; sister, Janell Dixon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Stephen Soldin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Serenity Hospice, especially nurse April F. for their loving and compassionate care during this time.
