James Donald Wells, 84, of Rockford passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 with family by his side. James was born in Los Angeles, CA; the son of James Arthur and Luzella E. (Anderson) Wells. James was raised by his step-mother Doris Wells and his father James since the age of 2. He married Mary Ann Neblock on August 5, 1960. James retired from Woodward Governor in 1993 and was a member of the Jefferson-Horton American Legion Post #340 in Rockford. He was a graduate of West High and got an accounting degree from LaSalle. James loved woodworking, was an avid T.V. wrestling fan and he was always willing to help anyone who needed anything. James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann; sister Pam Northrup; brothers Mike Wells and David Patrick Wells; sister-in-law Debbie (Walter) Anderson; several nieces and nephews; special thanks to Deloris Hlousek; sister-in-law Audrey Whalen; special friend Wade Schaal for all the help and love they gave James. James was preceded in death by his parents James and Luzella and his step-mother Doris.
Service to celebrate James life will be 11:00 am on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation for James will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel of Love with Military Honors.
