James William Stevens, 79, of Rockford, IL. died Sunday, April 1, 2018 in RIver Bluff Nursing Home where he adopted the staff as friends and family. He was born in Redfield, South Dakota. James worked as an elevator operator at the Faust Hotel. He was an active member of the Alida Lodge and engaged in all their social activities. He especially looked forward to the fishing trips. People loved being in James company, he made people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed a good cigar, and a side of chocolate especially reeses peanut butter cups. He truly was the family blessing always putting life into perspective.
Survivors: siblings, Duane (Suzanne) Stevens, Edythe Collins, Vicki Boughter; many loving and caring nieces and nephews.
