Janet M. Johnson, 84, left this earthly world to be reunited with her beloved husband, Dale, on Jan. 5, 2024, one month after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Janet was born in Ashland, WI on October 4th 1939. On April 30, 1960 she married Dale Johnson. In June 1966, along with their three little girls, they moved from Wisconsin into what is still the family home, in Loves Park, IL. Their family was complete after the addition of two more children, their first son in 1967 and their youngest (surprise!), another son, in 1974.
Dale and Janet were loving people, devoted to one another and to each of their children. They worked hard, with purpose and integrity, to make a beautiful home and to provide for their family. Janet delighted in her home, which reflected her exquisite taste and sense of order. She enjoyed life’s simple pleasures – her morning coffee & newspaper and watching the birds and squirrels in her backyard. She loved a good book, movies, lunching with her friends, and garage saling! Mostly, she loved time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was a devout Christian. As a member of Christ Lutheran Church for over 50 years, she was active in various women’s groups and sang in the church choir. Janet will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her beauty and elegance, for her tenderheartedness, her kindness. To the world she was a homemaker, a wife and a mother. To her family, she was the world.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Cecelia Gima; brother Roger Gima; husband Dale R. Johnson; his parents Caston and Alma Johnson; his sister Shirley Workman and her husband Ralph; his brother Milton and wife Emma; sister-in-law Pat Johnson; and brother-in-law “Whitey” Ruuska.
Survived by sister Theresa (Al) Seabloom; sister-in-law Carol Gima and their families; many cousins; her children Theresa Johnson, Linda (Tom) Schuepbach, Diane (Steve) Petersen, Scott Johnson, Steven Johnson, (Tanya Sarrels); beloved grandchildren James(Jordan), Lucas, and Alivia Johnson; Dale’s remaining siblings Harvey and Roger (Joanne) Johnson, Dorothy Ruuska and their families; families of Ralph and Shirley Workman and Milton and Emma Johnson; many friends, including special longtime friends Sue Marean and Rubena Bengsten.
