Janice Faye Abbott, 65, of Rockford, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, March 13, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 18, 1956 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of J.C. and Trixie (Swinney) Penington. Janice was employed with State Farm for 32 years. She was a faithful member of 20th Street Missionary Baptist Church, where she played the piano. Janice married Dennis “Mike” Abbott on August 12, 2000 in Rockton, IL. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and doing crafts. Most of all, she adored her family and loved caring for them.
Janice is loved and missed by her mother, Trixie; husband, Mike; children, Joshua (Mary) Hopkins and Jennifer (John Morgan) Hopkins; grandchildren, Courtney Pool, Abby Hopkins, Emily Morgan, Caden Hopkins, Baylor McLain, Sean Morgan and Elizabeth Morgan; siblings, Fred (Micki) Penington, James (Penny) Pennington and Terry (Michele) Penington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her father, J.C.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a visitation to be held from 9:00 a.m., until the time of the service. Funeral services will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/SunsetfuneralhomeIL.
