Jerry Richard Deegan, 69, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Jerry was born October 28, 1954 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Jerry was a proud member of Local 32 Laborer's Union, working for Sjostrom & Son's Construction as the laborer foreman. He was very happy to retire at 40, and made sure to stay busy in his time. He always had a project to do, and was always there to help others. He was well connected in the community, and often found a friend wherever he went. Jerry was the type that was able to fix, build, or create anything. He was a true perfectionist at heart, making sure to stay tidy and organized throughout his life. He was the most amazing storyteller, and even if you had heard the story multiple times, he drew you in by his enthusiasm and humor. Above all else, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren who lovingly called him “Uncle Jerry”.
He is survived by his children, Nick (Ashley) Deegan, and Halie (Corey) Kirby-Deegan; grandchildren, Aubrey Deegan, Drew Kirby, Kinzlie Deegan, and Kaison Kirby; mother, and sisters, Beverly (Brian) Joyce and Jean Olivencia.
