Jimmy L. Lewis, aged 76, of Rockton, Illinois passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026. He was born August 15, 1949 to James and Marilyn (Elmore) Lewis in Rockford, Illinois. Jimmy married the love of his life, Linda Dunham, on March 6, 1971. He worked for many years as a dry cleaner until his retirement. Jimmy enjoyed being outdoors, going camping, boating, and fishing. He loved racing at the Rockford Speedway when it was still open. Jimmy was a huge NASCAR fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Lewis; children, Christopher Lewis, Teresa (Amanda) Lewis, and James Lewis; grandchildren, Ashton Gore, Jocelyn Gore, Johnathon Lewis, Stephanie Lewis, Stacy Lewis, Christopher Lewis, and Haley Hammer; many great-grandchildren; sister, Debra Burton; best friend, James Salivar; and dog, Zeus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marilyn Lewis.
A visitation for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, February 28 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Sunset Funeral home, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to follow at 10:00 am.
