Joe F. Tester, 85, passed away Monday June 26, 2017 in the comfort of his home. Joe was born on December 25, 1931 in Elizabethton, TN., son of Robert and Martha (Bryant) Tester. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and watching wrestling and cop shows. He served as a lineman in the U.S. Army for 21/2 years. He married Mary G. Percell in July of 1955 and moved to Illinois where he worked for National Lock for 29 years and then Rockford Tool Craft from where he retired.
Joe is survived by his daughter Billie (Dale) Goodall; granddaughters Brandi Goodall and Shianne (Montra) Starks; grandson Nick (Angela) Goodall; 8 great-grandsons and sister Imogene (Fred) Morris of Elizabethton, TN. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son and 10 brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Joe’s life will be 2:00 pm Friday June 30, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park; visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service. Military Honors will be conducted after the memorial service.
