John Howard Edmunds

John Edmunds, age 76, of Beloit, Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025. He was born August 22, 1948 to Howard and Verna (Wilson) Edmunds in Viroqua, Wisconsin. John worked for many years as a police officer for the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department before he retired. He married the love of his life, Linda Maffioli, on September 11, 1982.

John was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed playing golf, watching the Packers win, and watching his nephew play football at Harvard. He liked to play board games, especially Scrabble and card games like UNO with his family. He loved to go on vacations to Florida, Door County, and on bike rides with his wife and H.O.G. Biker Club. John enjoyed watching M.A.S.H., Match Game, and Deal or No Deal on tv. His favorite activity was spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Edmunds; children, Jeffery (Sharon) Edmunds, Marc Edmunds, and Kirsten Edmunds; grandchildren, Joshua (Taylor Marsh) Edmunds, Jacob Edmunds, and Kaleb Edmunds; great-grandson, Asher Edmunds; siblings, Barbara Larkee, Allan (Nancy) Von Ruden, James Von Ruden, Adele (John) Von Ruden, and Jean Von Ruden; along with best friends, Steve Benney and Craig Stunkel.

He has been joined with his parents, Howard and Verna Edmunds; brother, Brian Von Ruden; niece, Cindy Larkee; and brother-in-law, Al Larkee.

A Celebration of Life will be held for John at Porter Park in the log cabin, 6598 Windflower Ln, Roscoe, IL 61073 on March 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM. If you would like to bring a dish to pass you are more than welcome to.
