John Fizzy Jr, 88, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away quietly away Saturday, December 1, 2018. John was born September 18, 1930, in Dante, Virginia, to John and Beulah (Roberts) Fizzy. He is oldest of four children. He married Delores (Moser) in Rockford. They have been married for 63 years. He lived and worked in Rockford, Illinois, most of his adult life. He was an accountant at Barber-Colman fir 45 years, transitioning with them and working in the personnel and tax department when they were purchased by Seibe.
John is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served faithfully in various positions over the years. For a time he often wrote letters to the editor of the local newspaper. He enjoyed playing tennis. He loved learning and encouraged his children, and all he associated with to get a good education. For the last six years he resided at PA Peterson at the Citadel. Since April of 2017 he also received care from Hospice Care of America. The family wishes to thank the staff at PA Peterson and all the wonderful individuals who cared from him from Hospice Care of American.
John is survived by his wife, Delores, of Rockford; daughter, Juanita (Rick) McMullan of Germantown, MD; grandchildren, Roger (Karen) McMullan, Paul (Lauren) McMullan, Mark (Camry) McMullan, Brian (Lauren) McMullan, Dennis McMullan, Neil Fizzy, Nathan (Lily) Fizzy, Tiffany (Bryan) Knightly, Travis (Melanie) Fizzy; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Francis Jackson and sister-in-law, Barbara Moser both of Rockford. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy; brother, Thomas; sons, Roy and Fred.

I worked with John at Barber-Colman. He was a happy, kind and gentle soul. I enjoyed talking with and working with him. I’m saddened to learn of his passing. Sending heartfelt sympathy to all of his family. He is remembered fondly.
