John “Papa John” J. Hood, 47, of Machesney Park, passed away September 18, 2012 in his home, surrounded by family. Born to Albert Sr. and Shirley (Morman) Hood, on May 25, 1965 in Rockford, he was the owner of Performance Builders in Machesney Park.
Survivors include The Love of His Life, April Hood; children, T.J., Kelsey, John Nikolus, Drue, Amanda, and Sarah; surrogate children, Dawn Czyzyk, and Chuck Duke; grandchildren, Isabella, Landyn, Vanessa, Hayden, and Maison; sisters, Carleen (Dave) Haseman, Ann (Rusty) Love, Becky (Ross) Hood, and Sheila Hood; brother, Robert (Laurie) Hood.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Pastor Joel Otto will be officiating. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20.
