Jon B Worley, age 81, of Machesney Park, Illinois passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, August 14, 2026. He was born December 10, 1944 to Manley and Martha Belle (Trader) Worley in Rockford, Illinois. After graduating high school he worked at Woodward Governor, at the same time he served in the Army Reserves. He was proud to be one of the first members of the Gentleman’s Car Club. He met his beautiful wife in 1966 and they got married August 26, 1967. Jon started with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department in 1969, meeting his best friend and partner, Monte Roop. He held various positions from training officer, to detective, eventually retiring as a sergeant. He attended the FBI National Academy in 1983 and retired from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department in 1990. He was a proud member of many organizations, including the Masons, where he recently achieved his 32nd degree, Tebala Shriners, and South Beloit Legion.
Jon leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Darlene Worley; three beautiful daughters, Michelle (Chris) Watkins, Nicolle (Ivory) Carroll, and Jonelle (Dustin) Insko; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manley and Martha Belle Worley; brother, Melborne; in-laws; a grandson; and many close extended family members.
A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, August 26 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm.
