Jose Ruben Gonzales passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 60. Jose was born on April 29, 1965 in Aurora, Illinois to Encarnacion Gonzales and Herminia Huizar. Jose lived a life grounded in faith, family, and simple joys. A devoted man of belief, he regularly sought guidance from priests within the church and carried his faith into everyday life. He was known for pausing to pray before dinner, a quiet but meaningful ritual that reflected his gratitude and trust in God.
A dedicated and dependable worker, Jose spent much of his career in shipping and receiving, where he skillfully operated a forklift and took pride in doing his work well. He made it a point to train others, always setting a high standard through patience, leadership, and example. Beyond his professional work, Jose was a talented carpenter and woodworker, using his hands and creativity to build, repair, and craft with care. His craftsmanship reflected the same attention, humility, and pride he brought to every part of his life.
In his free time, Jose found happiness in fishing, bowling (coaching bowling for over ten years), roller skating, and spending time with his family; activities that brought him peace, enjoyment, and connection with others. He will be remembered for his devotion, humility, strong work ethic, and the steady presence he offered to those around him.
Jose is survived by his wife, Michelle Reńe Gonzales; children, Jose Ruben, Andrew James, Matthew Alexander (Berenice), Samuel Isaiah, Teagan Hollis, and Hailey Hollis; dog, Bandit; mom, Herminia Huizar; sisters, Dolores (Roy) Rivera and Veronica (David) Bunt; brothers, Rene (Maria) Gonzales, David Lopez, and Daniel (Meagan) Gonzales; thirteen grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Encarnacion Gonzales and grandmother, Francis Cantu.
