Josephine Ace, 80, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford. Josephine was born November 12, 1944, in Chariton, Iowa, to Thomas and Edna Kline. In 1955, Josephine and her family settled in the Rockford area. On January 23, 1965, Jo married the love of her life, Richard Ace. Josephine was a machine operator for many years with Warner Lambert prior to retiring. Jo was a member of Assembly of God Church in Rockford for many years. More recently, she attended Pebble Creek Pentecostal Church in Loves Park.
To highlight the many attributes Jo had, she can be described as caring, compassionate, feisty, and above all else – the best mama ever. Her family was everything her, and her main concern. Through her concern for others, she gave to many charities including veterans, St. Jude, and many more. She had an extraordinary giving spirit to anyone in need with no questions asked. Her love also extended to many furry friends – especially dogs. Her own furry baby Coco was spoiled beyond measure. To keep busy, Jo liked to refurnish furniture, play cards, and yardwork. Throughout her entire life she loved to dance, which goes back to when she met Richard on a dance floor in Pecatonica.
Jo is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard; daughter, Tammy (Rick) Lawrence; granddaughter, Shannon Snoww Farmer; great-granddaughter, Kylee Josephine Tammy Farmer; great-great-granddaughter, Gabriella Josephine Farmer; sisters, Leora Johnston, Pam Kline, and Cindy Kline; brother, George Kline; Debra Romero, Rhonda Johnston, Danny Johnston, Randy Johnston, Allen (Lisa) Saffell, and many, many more nieces and nephews; furry baby, Coco.
She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Ace; parents, Thomas and Edna; sister, Shirley (Darrell) Saffell; brother-in-law, Delano Johnston.
