Josh graduated from Durand High School in 2000. He entered into the United States Marine Corps right after high school and completed his basic training in San Diego, CA. He then received Marine Mountain Warfare Training in Birdgeport, Ca. After completing his training he was transferred to Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base in North Carolina. LCPL Joshua Milsaps served in the First Battalion, Second Marine Division, and is a Veteran of the Iraq War, Operation Iraqi Freedom. During Joshua’s service he was awarded Combat Action Ribbon (Iraq), Marines Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2nd Award), National Qualification Badge (Sharpshooter).
While stationed at Camp Lejuene, Josh met and married his Loving Wife Karen. They were then blessed with a son Joshua Antonio and a daughter Sophie Isabella.
Upon being Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps Josh moved back to Illinois. He then pursued his passion for cooking and enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Chicago and received his associate’s degree. He then went back to Le Cordon Bleu to receive his baking and pastry certification.
After his studies in baking and pastry he moved to Mexico City, Mexico to be with his wife and children while he worked at the Marriot Hotel to complete his Le Cordon Bleu externship for baking and pastry certification.
Josh is a son any parent would be proud of, a brother any sibling would look up to, a husband any wife would love, and a father any child would adore. Josh is going to be missed by all who were blessed to make his acquaintance. Anyone who met him became his friend for life. He always had a smile and could make people smile instantly. He was smart, funny, laughed all the time, told jokes, and was quick witted. Josh lived with passion and a zeal for life. He was a brave Man not only in the U.S. Marines, but also in making decisions for his life. When Josh set his mind to doing something, he excelled. Josh is a true hero and life will not be the same without him but he will live in our hearts forever. God bless as your spirit lives on in heaven.
