Joyce R Boyd, age 82, of Rockford, Illinois was promoted to Glory on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Joyce was born on July 19, 1940, in Dekalb, Illinois to Phyllis and Raymond Hawkins. She married Al on August 15, 1981, here locally. Joyce worked for Singer Mental Health Center for 19 years as a licensed practical nurse.
Joyce enjoyed playing the piano and singing all of her life. She also enjoyed crocheting, even entering her work into the Winnebago County Fair, and winning multiple ribbons. She was a member at Salvation Army Chapel in Rockford, and loved reading her bible. Joyce and Al spent nearly 7 years in Port Charlotte, Florida, and another 6 years in Sun City, Arizona.
Joyce is survived by her husband of nearly 42 years, Al; children, Julie (Stuart) Wilson, Janet Cunz, and Jimmy (Lori) Lundstrom, Jeanette (Robert) Helton; grandchildren, Wesley and Dallas Wilson, David and Michael Cunz, Melynda (Brian) Seaton, Joseph Jones, Tyler, James, and Jaden Lundstrom; several great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Kimm.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Cornn; parents, Raymond and Phyllis.
A visitation for Joyce will take place Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Salvation Army Chapel, 500 S. Rockford Ave., Rockford, IL 61104 at 10:00 A.M. with a service to follow at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
