Katherine J. Guetzke

Joanne was born on December 10, 1946 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Clifton Drayton Elmer and Vera Elizabeth Lewis. She married Mitchell H. Guetzke on July 1, 1967 and he preceded her in death on November 25, 2013. Joanne was a very loving and caring woman who put everyone else before herself. She worked profusely no matter how she felt to make sure everyone else was taken care of. Joanne loved to shop, play the slots and adored all of her dogs. Joanne is finally going to be able to rest, be at peace and pain free.

Joanne is survived by her son Brad Guetzke; daughter Amy Sowl; grandchildren Nicklaus Sowl, Alexandria Sowl and Christopher Pearson; brother Cliff Elmer; sisters Betty (Earl) Thompson and Bonnie (Ron) Williams.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Christopher Guetzke, sister Rosemary Elliott, brother David Elmer and several beloved dogs.

A service to celebrate Joanne’s life will be 3:00 pm Friday March 10, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Visitation for Joanne will be on Friday from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after services.
